Welcome to the exciting world of music in your schools!
Who are we? What is our mission? Why should you participate? What am I committing to?
Who are we?
EVERY parent and guardian of a student participating in the High School, Qualters, and Jordan-Jackson Bands, including Color Guard/Winter Guard and Percussion Ensemble is, by definition, a member of The Mansfield Band Parent’s Association (MBPA). Simply put, We Are You! Every parent is encouraged to attend our monthly meeting, usually the 2nd Wed of each month, 7:00pm in the High School teacher’s lounge.
What is our mission?
The MBPA exists to support the music and guard programs by raising funds and providing as much support as needed for these extraordinarily successful programs to continue.
Why should you participate?
• Do you have a student in the award-winning Percussion Ensemble? …whether or not he or she is in the high school band. Without the funding of the MBPA this group could not function.
• Do you have a student in the Winter Guard? MBPA pays for instructors, supplies, transportation, etc.
• Do you have a student in the Jordan-Jackson music program? MBPA will be underwriting the afterschool music program in order to provide every student the opportunity to pick up an instrument.
• Do you have a student in the Qualters band or wind ensemble? MBPA pays for ALL instrument purchases and repairs.
• Do you have a student in the High School Band? MBPA has made 100% of all instrument purchases and repairs in the last few years, awards three $600 scholarships annually, and gave $10,000 to underwrite the Disney trip in 2008.
Bottom line, why should you participate? Because the school budget is not nearly sufficient for a successful music program and without your support, it will all just fade away.
What am I committing to?
Can your family support three (3) shifts a year at our Gillette Booth and a two (2) hour shift at our annual Spring home show? With this minimum support you would provide your fair share to raising in excess of $20,000. And, by the way…each per person shift worked at Gillette puts a proportional share of tip funds directly into your student’s account (last year, $18 per shift, or $54 for 3 shifts). The student account funds can be used for trips, personal instrument repairs, uniforms, and yes, especially for activity fees.
For more information, please visit our website, drop us a note, or come to a meeting.
Thank you.
